David Gonsalvez is an NH&MRC (National Health and Medical Research Council) Early Career Fellow also supported by MS Research Australia. David’s work is focused on:
1) Identifying ways to promote repair of the insulating material in the brain (myelin) after injury; and
2) Understanding how the process of myelination during brain development influences neuronal function, connectivity and its implications for neurological disorders in children and adolescences. In addition to his research, Dr Gonsalvez is passionate about educating undergraduate and postgraduate students in anatomy and neuroscience and works as a guest lecturer and anatomy instructor at the University of Melbourne.

David Homewood is a final year medical student at the University Melbourne. He is passionate about teaching and learning and has been demonstrating anatomy at the University of Melbourne for the last 4 years. He recently completed a research project exploring the biology of the oligodendrocyte attempting to explore scope for regenerative therapies for MS. He is excited to launch into the world of clinical medicine next year and continue engaging with teaching as well as science and health communication in the future.
